We understand that starting therapy can be a daunting experience, which is why we have put together a list of frequently asked questions to help ease some of your worry.

Our FAQ section provides detailed answers to commonly asked questions such as what to expect during a therapy session and how therapy can potentially serve you.

We believe that therapy can be a powerful tool to aid in personal growth, self-exploration, and overcoming challenges. It can also provide a safe and supportive space to discuss any issues you may be facing. We hope our FAQ section will provide you with a better understanding of the therapy process and help alleviate any concerns you may have about seeking help.
Have questions ?
Yes. We accept BCBS PPO, AETNA, United Healthcare, Cigna, and Tricare, . After your initial telephone consultation, we will verify your insurance benefits and your cost per session*.  If you are out of network, we can still bill your insurance and offer monthly invoices for services rendered. It is important to check your out of network benefits so that you know what your policy will cover for out of network benefits. We will check your out of network benefits as well and let you know. Sliding scale fees are also available and are based on income level.
Life can be stressful. Sometimes, we struggle with motivation, big life changes, anxiety, and everything in between. Therapy can provide you someone with a listening, non-judgmental ear, who you can confide your problems in without fear of them being shared with anyone else. Therapy can be the next important step towards recovery, whatever that looks like for you.
Sessions typically range from 45 minutes to an hour. Though this is the general rule of thumb, clients who are in the middle of processing thoughts or emotions will not be stopped due to time. This may sometimes cause sessions to run over. Clients at JL Family Services will also be allowed the time necessary for their healing on their journey to recovery.
This is the initial conversation between you and the therapist to explore what to expect in therapy. The therapist will ask about your reasoning for seeking therapy, and what you hope to accomplish. This is also a time for you to get to know what therapy looks like at JL Family Services, including some of the interventions, styles, and techniques we frequently use.
We will send you a link with the intake form that you can complete and send back to us. We will them verify your insurance, and provide you with any (if applicable) out of pocket fees. And lastly, we will together come up with a time that is most convenient for both yours and the therapist’s schedule.
