Hey There

I am Kristen

She/Her/They/Them

I am a clinical mental health counselor. My goal when working with clients is to give them the tools necessary to live the best life possible.

THERAPY

What to Expect

In the therapeutic setting, my goal is to provide clients the space to be their most authentic selves.
Too often in society, we are forced to wear a façade, or be a fraction of ourselves in any given space, for fear of being “too much” or fear of not being accepted fully. In our sessions, I encourage you to take up space unapologetically. I love being able to help my clients discover their real selves and give them the tools to overcome any obstacles in their journeys towards wellness. I show up to sessions as my authentic self, and I encourage my clients to do the same. The work begins where the masks end. My approach is both genuine and real. I believe in being transparent so that we can get to the root of your problems.

We Are Here To Help You

Experience

&

Approach

My journey towards the work I do now began in undergrad, when I was going through a really traumatic and challenging time in my life. I had an incredible support system, and I decided to pay it forward by giving the same kind of support to someone else. If I can make a difference in one person’s life, I’ve fulfilled my purpose.
My therapeutic approach in sessions is from a feminist perspective. I believe that our problems exist on a societal level that impact us individually. By examining the world around us, we can better understand ourselves and how we think. From there, we can implement the necessary actions for change. I work from a client-centered perspective as well. You are the expert in your life, and I do not pretend to know more than you do. By using your expertise, and my knowledge of interventions that work, together we can come up with solutions to help change your life for the better.
I help my clients develop necessary coping skills to get through the tough parts of life. I also work with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, giving them the tools to not become their trauma, and learning to live in their new normal.
I will always go above and beyond to meet the needs of my clients, while openly challenging thoughts and patterns, and holding them accountable. Growth, though not always comfortable, is necessary for change. Therapy will not always be fun, but it will be worth it, and ultimately, help you lead the life you always wanted. You are not alone in your journey; let me help guide you.

I received my bachelor’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, and my master’s degree from Adler University right here in Chicago, IL. I am certified in Nurturing Parenting, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
I work with women, the queer community (people of all sexual orientations, and including those who are trans and/or non-binary), relationship dynamics (both monogamous and polyamorous), and families
