Hey There

I am Sable

She/Her/Hers

My name is Sable Sanders, and I want clients to leave each session feeling heard and validated. My goal is to empower clients to learn to have more confidence in their own decision-making.
The most important relationship that exists is our relationship with ourselves.
Unfortunately, most people are disconnected from their own wants, needs, and desires and have no idea how to pursue genuine fulfillment. You cannot control what you do not understand, and many of us have no clue why we do the things that we do, communicate the way we communicate, or even love the way that we love.  What excites me the most as a therapist is introducing clients to themselves. I enjoy helping clients recognize that they have more control over their lives than they may realize.

Therapy

What To Expect

Livingroom setting
I provide a safe space where self-exploration without judgment is encouraged to deepen my client’s awareness of the triggers and poor coping mechanisms that impact daily functioning and relationships with others. I promote developing positive self-esteem and the confidence needed to feel empowered to deal with unexpected and difficult life challenges. My focus in therapy is to help you form a stronger bond with yourself by helping you to identify your needs and wants, utilize effective communication skills to get those needs met and develop healthy boundaries within your relationships.
In sessions, we will explore what makes you, you. We will discuss how you learned to think, function, and persevere. We will highlight the strengths that already exist and offer you healthier options to improve your quality of life where applicable. We accomplished this through client-centered conversations that provide meaningful insight, honesty, and empathy in a non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore and embrace your feelings.

Life is hard, and people need the help and support of other people. When working with clients, an essential component of the therapeutic relationship is trust. I want clients to leave each session feeling heard and validated. My goal is to empower clients to learn to have more confidence in their own decision-making. Renewing your emotional and mental health is the best way to lay a solid foundation for a happy and fulfilling life.

Experience

&

Approach

I have been providing mental and emotional health services for over 6 years. My experience and expertise in mental health include working as a domestic violence crisis worker providing supportive counseling and support groups to survivors of intimate partner violence and providing community-based trauma-informed care to individuals living with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
Practicing mental health in client’s homes and communities has allowed me to deeper understand the environmental factors that can impact a person’s emotional well-being. I have worked with adults, families, children, and adolescents from culturally diverse backgrounds who struggle with depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, adjustment and transitional changes, parenting, low self-esteem, substance abuse, and mood disorders.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Knox College and my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
